The Biblical prophets used to refer to their messages as a "burden of the Lord" and that's what I'm
feeling this morning. I feel God dealing with me even as I'm writing this.
We are coming to the end of the first week of our country's battle to free the citizens of Iraq from a cruel regime. We've all read the
unbelievable accounts of Iraqi's being tortured and murdered. We all know that Saddam Hussein and his company are wicked people who lie,
cheat, and steal. They don't play by the rules of war. Sound like the character and nature of a certain fallen angel to you? It sure does to
me.
Let's remember the battle Joshua fought against Amalek in Exodus 17: "When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; and when he lowered his
hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands were heavy and grew weary. So the other men took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it.
Then Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other side; so his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
And Joshua mowed down and disabled Amalek and his people with the sword."
How long did it take after 9/11 before we let down the intense prayer that we had begun after that attack? How long will it be into this war
before we let down the intensity of our prayer? How many hours of watching the battle will it take before it becomes more like watching a
movie, and we forget that what we are seeing are real people in real battles with real weapons losing real lives?
As time passes, it's sometimes easy for us with our busy American lives to just go back to our routines; putting the tragedy, or the war, in
the back of our minds. But our troops get tired and weary. Their physical bodies take the wear and tear of war. They experience mental
strain from what they see and hear.
Our troops are about to go into the most challenging time of this war. But this battle is the Lord's. The geographic area where this battle
is being waged is centered where all of earth's civilization began. Our adversary, the devil, has taken this area for his own, without doubt
intending this to be a slap in the face of God.
The devil will not let go easily. Let's remember that ultimately this is a spiritual battle in the heavenlies. Get a vision of warring
angels over the territory, fiercely battling. Remember there are principalities that control many nations. This is a battle between God and
Satan. Allah is a false god. There is no such god. Mohammed is dead and buried. JESUS IS ALIVE AND WELL!!!!
We have an awesome army. But what will win this war is awesome prayer. We must be diligent. Rest assured, this battle will be won on the
side of righteousness. The truth will be told, and Jesus will still be Lord!!!
Lord, how they are increased who trouble me! Many are
they who rise up against me. Many are saying of me,
There is no help for him in God. Selah But You, O Lord,
are a shield for me, my glory and the lifter of my head.
With my voice I cry to the Lord, and He hears and answers
me out of His holy hill. Selah I lay down and slept; I
wakened again, for the Lord sustains me. I will not be
afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves
against me round about. Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God!
For You have struck all my enemies on the cheek: You have
broken the teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongs to the Lord;
May Your blessing be upon Your people, Selah.
